Dr. Jonathan Kwadwo Abrokwah is a Ghanaian – American electrical engineer and inventor with over forty (40) years of experiences in the semiconductor and electronic device industry.

Dr. Jonathan Abrokwah graduated with bachelor’s (1974) and master’s (1976) degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT),  respectively, and a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California (USC) under a Rockwell International Fellowship (1979). He also earned a second master’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering that same year.

Dr.Abrokwah is one of the pioneering in the semiconductor field in Photonics at Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, New Jersey, and electronic materials and integrated circuits at Honeywell Corporate Research Laboratory in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and McDonnell Douglas Electronics Systems Company at Huntington Beach, California, before joining Motorola (1990), in Phoenix, Arizona.

He was a Research and Development Integration Engineer in the Wireless Systems Division in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA for Avago Technologies which manufactured radio frequency components, and modules for cellular phones, and data communication systems. He was involved in high frequency high electron mobility transistor and heterojunction bipolar power amplifier development for Avago/Broadcom where he retired in 2018.

Dr.Abrokwah background includes semiconductor engineering in materials, devices, simulation, and electrical circuits with expertise in new product innovation, project management, intellectual property. He is involved in 45 patents and over 75 publications on electronic materials, devices, and components in scientific publications. He is a Life Member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical, and Electronics Engineering); past CSMantech (Compound Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology) Committee Member and Board Member; Motorola Scientific Advisory Board Member and was US Black Engineer of Year Awardee (1993) at Career Communications Technical Achievement, Baltimore, Maryland.

Currently, Dr.Abrokwah is an Adjunct Professor (remote) at the Accra Institute of Technology Accra, Ghana, and an Advisory Board Vice-Chairman of i2iMegaHub. i2iMegaHub is an NGO providing support to especially the African youth take their viable ideas to make positive global impacts. He is passionate about problem solving, CAD simulation, working in teams, leading and project management and student mentoring on CAPSTONE projects.
